K2, the mountain without compromise

    At 8,611 m, K2 is the second highest peak in the world after Everest. Located in the Karakoram range on the border between Pakistan and China, it is nicknamed the “Savage Mountain” due to its difficulty and the high mortality rate of its ascents.

Since its first ascent in 1954 by Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli, the mountain has become a legend. Every attempt is a struggle against technique, climate, and human limits.

    Identification

    The peak was mapped by T.G. Montgomerie during the Great Trigonometric Survey of India and was named “K2.”
